A Mountain and Beach Combo

Wedding Rings on a DressAbout 20 miles outside of Charlotte, in Mooresville, there’s a quarry. Which doesn’t sound like a very surprising sentence. However, this quarry is also a wedding venue. And not just your run-of-the-mill wedding venue either. The Quarry at Carrigan Farms is one the most unique wedding venues we’ve ever seen. Which also makes it one of our favorites.

A little background: we’re a mobile DJ company. Which means we travel to weddings near and far. Though we’re based in Greensboro, NC, we often find ourselves in Asheville one weekend, Fayetteville the next weekend, and down in South Carolina the weekend after that. That is to say, we make the rounds. We’ve seen hundreds of venues across both the Carolinas. But never have we seen a venue that can truthfully say the have a beach and mountains.

Until we made our way down to Mooresville.

Initially, we didn’t quite know what to expect. When we heard “quarry,” we’ll admit, we were skeptical. But after getting to this quarry, we had to take a few minutes just to look around and take it all in.

The first thing you notice is the high granite walls surrounding the ceremony spot. We were told that they rise up to almost 70 feet. Which definitely makes for a nice, private ceremony.

There’s also a boardwalk that leads through the quarry and ends in a little sandy area that truly does feel like a beach. With the granite walls and sand underfoot, this quarry captures the feel of both a beach and a mountain wedding.

Dow Oak was the best choice we could have made for our ceremony & reception! Kameron was so easy to work with & so patient collecting details from both myself & my mother who lives out of town. She was great at reading the energy in the room & knowing what to play next. All through the reception before a transition she would find the right person and make sure we were ready for the next thing. If you’re looking for at least one part of your wedding planning to be stress free, use Dow Oak!

Past and Present

Bride With Flowers and RingMuch like how the venue was a blend of mountain and beach, this wedding was a blend of traditional and modern. For the ceremony, we had Canon in D, instrumental piano, and Mendelssohn’s Wedding March. Then we had a bridal party intro to “I Believe in a Thing Called Love.” And the combination of contemporary and traditional music made for a uniquely personal ceremony and reception.

For the dance part of the night, we had quite a varied playlist. From Green Day and the Goo Goo Dolls to Ed Sheeran and Meghan Trainor. And those are the kind of playlists we like.

If you’re into more than one kind of music, then it’s worth booking a DJ. Also, if you’re only into one kind of music, you should also book a DJ (okay, we’re a little biased). But it’s when there’s a variety of music that we’re truly able to shine. Seamlessly mixing different artists and genres is what we do best.

Final Thoughts

And as a final note, we just need to say… We absolutely love what we do. Being a part of the unique and personal ways couples celebrate is why we do it. And we loved being a part of this celebration. It’s always awesome to see how couples choose to celebrate.

In conclusion, we’ve learned that being a wedding DJ near Charlotte isn’t just about playing the music. So we take our role seriously. Facilitating such a big day is a serious job! That’s why we always give every wedding or event our all.
