An Unexpected Surprise

We’ve been to a lot of venues in Fuquay-Varina. We’ve even been to a lot of venues in North Carolina. But after we went to The American Legion we knew we had to write our next blog about it. And due to all our traveling, you can believe us when we say: this one was worth writing about. Fuquay-Varina is just outside Raleigh, which is one of our favorite cities in NC. That Piedmont aesthetic really can’t be beat. And, truth be told, we have kind of a soft spot for Fuquay-Varina in general.

When we first showed up at The American Legion, we knew immediately it was gonna be a good night. The way everything came together was absolutely a sight to see.

Down a seemingly empty country road in Fuquay sits American Legion Post 116. Though we make it down to Raleigh very often, we’re not frequently in Fuquay. So honestly, we didn’t know what exactly to expect going into this one.

Generally preparedness is a DJ’s best friend, and that’s particularly true when it comes to weddings. We always show up with back-up gear, back-up music, and even back-up button-ups (you never know when a rowdy guest may spill something while requesting Lil Jon). So in terms of all our equipment, we were definitely prepared.

But this was our first time at this venue. And that in and of itself comes with new challenges.

It’s hard to overstate just how many different venues and receptions we’ve seen and hosted. As traveling wedding DJs, it’s our job to create custom celebrations all over the Carolinas. There was something unique about this one though.

In order to prepare for the unplanned, we arrived extra early. Typically we shoot to arrive ~2 hours early, but we gave ourselves a little extra breathing room with this one.

But as it turned out, we shouldn’t have worried as much as we did. To be fair, hindsight is 20/20. But everyone working with the venue was friendly and accommodating, even offering to help unload our gear (which is not something we encounter every wedding).

We had the pleasure of having Kameron as our wedding DJ and she provided such a fantastic experience. Communication was great leading up to the wedding and she gave all sorts of helpful suggestions in our final meeting before the wedding. The day of the wedding she was all smiles and so attentive. We had some last minute changes in the bridal party and she STILL didn’t get a thing wrong. She even jumped on the dance floor with us a few times when we fumbled over some of the line dances. I would hire her again in a heartbeat. Thank you Kameron and Dow Oak Events!!

A Wedding Full of Good Times

There are many factors that go into creating a unique wedding. And in our travels through North Carolina, we’ve seen too many great weddings to count. But what really makes any Fuquay-Varina wedding great is the vibe.

And as professional wedding DJs, cultivating the vibe is our specialty.

Although we hate to admit it, sometimes it’s not all about the music and dancing. With Sam and Josh in particular, their focus was more on having an awesome night of wedding games and engagement with guests. So we had the shoe game ready to go and a few others that kept everyone present attentive and laughing. There was some dancing to be had with a few of Sam and Josh’s favorites making an appearance. But overall it was more about connecting with family and guests. And we’re happy to facilitate that, too.

Sam and Josh definitely had some awesome tastes.

We had a dance party featuring everything from George Strait to Echo & the Bunnymen. And as DJs, that’s always something we appreciate.

Our skillset is in music in general. Occasionally folks ask us if we can do a particular kind of music or genre, and our answer is always a resounding yes. If it’s the music our couple wants, then it’s the music they’ll get.

And it’s always the best when that translates onto the dance floor. What makes for the best reception throw-downs is a wide variety of music. That’s also what keeps the dancing crowd on their toes.

We could go on and on about Sam and Josh and their celebration at The American Legion in Fuquay-Varina, NC. But for now we’ll just stick to saying that we had an amazing time. We’re always grateful to be able to be a part of anyone’s big day. That’s why we got into this business. Being able to craft custom Raleigh celebrations is something we’ll never get tired of. We can’t wait to come back to Fuquay-Varina!

Final Thoughts

And as a final note, we just need to say… We absolutely love what we do. Being a part of the unique and personal ways couples celebrate is why we do it. And we loved being a part of this celebration. It’s always awesome to see how couples choose to celebrate.

In conclusion, we’ve learned that being a wedding DJ near Raleigh isn’t just about playing the music. So we take our role seriously. Facilitating such a big day is a serious job! That’s why we always give every wedding or event our all.
