The Cotton Room at Golden Belt has a humble but impressive origin story. Originally built in 1900 by The Golden Belt Manufacturing, The Cotton Room used to be a textile factory that produced cotton pouches for the Bull Durham Tobacco company. Today The Cotton Room, founded by newlyweds Michelle and Dodd Aldred in 2010, is the first, fully inclusive, gold-certified LEED (https://www.usgbc.org/leed) historic site in the southeast. And, an opportunity to keep the history of the Durham area alive and thriving!

History Isn’t Everything

We do love a good backstory, but what impresses us the most is how The Cotton Room, and by extension, the TC Hospitality Group, take care of their clients’ needs in the present, whatever those needs may be! Whether you are hosting a large group or a small group The Cotton Room has you covered. The event space is big enough to hold over 400 guests for a large gathering, but surprisingly a smaller gathering of a few dozen guests will still feel intimate. It really all depends on how you utilize the space!

The Space Itself

Imagine incredible natural light streaming through huge floor to ceiling windows and skylights. Imagine gorgeous gleaming honey colored hardwood floors as far as the eye can see. Imagine beautiful brick walls, with a rich inviting patina. Imagine sky high wood ceilings, with huge beams and small well restored vestiges of the buildings’ textile manufacturing past. Imagine floor to ceiling white drape, circling the center of the main space, that can be used to create intimacy and drama within the space. Truly… imagine it! Sounds pretty perfect to us, but don’t take our word for it! Their website and Instagram feed speak for themselves!

There’s More to Them Than a Pretty Room!

As if all of that wasn’t enough, the TC Hospitality Group also offers event design and planning, as well as catering, bartending and serving via their sister brand, Triangle Catering Cuisine & Drinks! And, when we say the food is fantastic we mean it! From appetizers, to grazing stations/charcuterie trays, to dessert buffets, to signature drinks, to full on buffets, Triangle catering can do it all! With all that delicious food, we guarantee that none of your guests will go hungry! And, their presentation is fantastic, and is second to none! Which we think is important, after all, we eat with our eyes first!

Not content just to feed you, The TC Hospitality Group also boasts a sister company, Petal & Oak, which specializes in floral design and decor rentals. And, not one to shy away from a challenge, the Petal & Oak design division can and will create custom decor pieces to bring your wildest event ideas to life!

Options, Options and More Options!

If you’ve heard all this and still aren’t convinced, the TC Hospitality Group has 2 other event spaces that may strike your fancy! They are, in no particular order, Beltline Station and Lucky Strike Suite. Each one is gorgeous, and each distinctly different.
